If you tend to park your vehicles next to the concrete walls outside your house or have set up a workshop in the garage area, your concrete walls are likely to get stained with rust. Although the walls cannot directly get rusty, they tend to take on the stains from the rust formed on the metallic objects kept close to them.
Especially in the case of exteriors, stained concrete walls spoil the overall aesthetic appeal of your house. If they are lighter in colour, the walls make the stains much more prominent and noticeable. It is, therefore, always advisable to be careful about the articles you place alongside your walls. Make sure your vehicles and all metal objects are well-maintained and free from rust.
However, if the damage is done, all you can do is find a resolution. There are many different ways of dealing with rust stains on concrete walls. People often resort to household remedies like white vinegar, lemon juice, and more to clean their walls. If you want to go the same way, you can dip a cotton cloth in these solutions, rub the surface of your wall, and rinse it using a hard-bristle brush. However, these are not the most effective ways of getting rid of rust stains from your concrete walls as they are time-consuming and tedious.
If you want to remove rust stains from your concrete walls within a few minutes, WD-40 helps you get the work done in no time. All you need to do is spray the liquid and let it work its magic on the wall. Irrespective of the surface it is sprayed on, WD-40 penetrates between the rust stains and loosens them, making it extremely easy for you to wipe them off in a single go.
Here are the steps you can follow to deal with nasty rust stains on your concrete walls:
For taking the first step towards cleaning your concrete walls spotless, you will need to get yourself a can of WD-40 Multi Use Product. You can easily get it on popular online stores or a hardware store near you. To avoid spending time getting the product when needed, it is advisable to have a can handy with you at all times.
Now that you have WD-40 Multi Use Product with you, you need to gently spray it on your concrete wall. Make sure that all the rust stains are completely covered by the liquid as you spray it. This doesn’t mean that you spray more than what is required. Spray the liquid depending on the size of the stains on your wall. If you are covering a wide surface area, make sure that you use the wide nozzle of the can for more convenience.
After spraying WD-40 on your concrete wall, make sure that you let the liquid sit for a few minutes before wiping it off. This time would allow the liquid to work on the stains and loosen the bonds between them. If the stains are older and nastier, waiting a little longer would help.
Finally, remove the stains off your concrete walls with the help of an abrasive such as a wire brush or a scrub. Always be gentle in your approach to keep the surface of your wall safe. In most cases, the stains would come off easily in the first attempt. However, if you do not get the desired results in the first go, you can repeat the process until you have a completely clean wall in front of you.
Once the mission is accomplished, you need to wash the wall with clean water to get rid of all unwanted residue.
