Rusty taps often go unnoticed until the rust hampers their functioning and causes them to get jammed. People often tend to sleep on the issue or ignore it until it reaches a point of no redemption. If you want to clean your tap from all the rust, make sure you tackle the problem while it is new instead of waiting for things to get worse.
Rusting is a common issue faced by articles made of metal. Especially in the case of taps, the metallic surface is likely to be exposed to moisture for too long, resulting in the formation of rust. Rust is formed when a chemical reaction takes place between iron and oxygen. Once the issue gets bigger, it would start affecting the functioning of your tap and may render it useless.
People commonly use household ingredients like vinegar and lemon juice for dealing with rusty pipes. While these ingredients do show their impact and get the work done, they are not suitable for rust which is more notorious and would not come off easily. Also, you may need to repeat the cleaning process multiple times while using these household ingredients.
If you want to get rid of rust from your taps almost immediately without having to make multiple attempts, you can get the work done with the WD-40 Multi Use Product. A few sprays of the liquid would break the bonds between rust particles and remove them without any resistance.
Here are a few simple steps involved in removing rust from your taps using WD-40:
First of all, you will need to get yourself a can of WD-40 Multi Use Product. You can find it at the nearest hardware store or a supermarket. You may also order the can online and keep it handy at all times to tackle emergencies.
Before you spray WD-40 for removing rust, it is important to clean your tap from all the visible dirt and grime on the surface. You can do so with the help
of a cleaning rag, dry or moist. This will prepare your tap for being cleaned off all the rust and prevent the dirt from adding to the issue. However, if you are planning on cleaning your tap using a moist rag, make sure it is completely clean before you proceed further.
Now, take your can of WD-40 Multi Use Product, shake it well and spray it on the rusty areas of your tap. Make sure the rust on the tap is fully covered with the liquid and do not go overboard while spraying it on the rust.
Do not hurry when it comes to cleaning the rust off your tap after spraying WD-40. Let the liquid rest for a few minutes. During this time, the liquid would work its magic on the rust and break its particles down, making it easier for you to remove them in the following step.
Finally, take a wire brush and slowly scrape the rust out of the tap. You will see gently the rust will come off the surface after coming in contact with WD-40. Although the potent liquid will get the job done in the first attempt, you can repeat the process until the tap is completely clean.
To give a final touch to the cleaning process, you can use sandpaper to scrape off the rust remnants on the tap. After this, you can wash the tap once before you start using it again.
