Clothing stains are notoriously difficult to remove. Among these are dried paint stains. There are methods that can remove dried paint stains at least in some cases, even if they are impossible to remove. Considering whether the paint is oil or latex-based, and then use the appropriate method below. The materials you need are all common household items.
For latex-based paint removal, follow steps 1 through 3. If you’re removing oil-based paint, follow steps 4 through 6.h
There are many ways to remove paint stains. One solution is to apply a generous amount of hairspray with alcohol on the stain. The alcohol in hairspray will lift the paint from the fabric.
Let the stained clothes soak in cold water for an hour.
After removing the clothing from the water, scrub the stain with a hard-bristled brush. Continue to scrub in a circular motion until the stain has disappeared. If necessary, repeat steps 1 through 3.
Make sure the entire paint stain is covered with WD-40. Use a sponge to rub the cleaner in.
Using a clean cloth, wipe the stained area. Repeat the process until all paint residue has been removed. If needed, apply more WD-40.
Using mild dish soap, soak the clothing in warm water. Remove the clothing and scrub the stain again. If the stain does not disappear completely, repeat Steps 1 through 3 again.
It is important to make sure you are wearing gloves before handling any items with paint on them regardless of how soon you plan on washing them again because it can irritate your skin and make your hands feel sticky and clammy.
