How to maintain your stainless-steel sink?
One of the most difficult areas to clean in your kitchen is your stainless-steel sink. The high reflection of this surface also makes any marks, fingerprints, and grime very noticeable. Step 1
Prepare
You should ensure the sink area is clear before beginning the cleaning process. Make sure you clear all of the stainless-steel surfaces from dishes, cutlery, food or drink in the sink. Getting prepared is crucial!
Step 2
Clean
You can now begin cleaning the sink area now that it is clear. Start by scrubbing all stainless-steel surfaces with a sponge, some gentle soap, and warm water. Get rid of any leftover food waste, oils, and fats. If your sink has a rim, make sure to reach around the edge and into the corners. This is the area that collects the most grime.
After your sink is clean, rinse it with warm water to remove any remaining soap suds.
Step 3
Deep clean with WD-40
After you’ve cleaned the stainless steel sink’s surface, it’s time to deep clean it! The sink should be completely dry before starting this step.
Surfaces made of stainless steel should be coated with WD-40® Multi-Use Product. Two to three minutes should be sufficient to allow the product to penetrate any grease or grime remaining in the sink. If the product has been exposed to air for a short period of time, wipe it down with a microfiber cloth. It will appear sparkling and reflective!
The transparent barrier created by WD-40® Multi-Use Product prevents moisture from entering stainless steel, which will also prevent future corrosion. Furthermore, this will prevent rusting over time and facilitate cleaning in the future.
Step 4
Finally Clean that Drain
You should take a little time now that your stainless-steel sink is so clean to make sure that your drain is well maintained as well. The amount of food and drink that comes into contact with kitchen sink drains can cause them to become blocked and stinky.
The best practice is to use a drain unblocked once every few months, depending on how often you use your sink. By doing so, your sink’s plumbing will remain clear and free flowing – so no nasty odors or unexpected blockages.
