Whether you are a first-time DIYer or an experienced handyman, you will have to deal with rusted nuts and bolts. Nuts and bolts usually corrode together. Sometimes, they are stuck in place and can’t even be moved.
If you live in a humid climate or if you have damp in your walls, the problem will be aggravated even further.
Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. This guide will explain how to remove rusted bolts in detail.
Around the rusted nuts and bolts, spray WD-40. Let the oil soak in for ten minutes. Insert the wrench in the hollow tube, and put the head of the wrench around the rusted nuts and bolts, giving you a longer wrench to apply more pressure. Replace the hollow tube wrench with a vice grip if the head of the nail is damaged and the box end wrench does not work.
Use a propane torch to heat the rusty bolts and nuts by keeping the flame an inch or an inch and a half away from the head of the bolt. Heat the bolt for 15 – 20 seconds, then heat the nut similarly. Alternate between the nut and bolt for about 2 minutes, then attempt to unscrew the bolt with your wrench. Heat should remove the corrosion causing the nail to stick.
