Cleaning your car may seem like an overwhelming task. With our handy guide below, it is made simple, straightforward and easy. Every month, you could easily spend hundreds of dollars taking your car to a car wash service. Let’s be honest, we don’t all do this every month. Imagine all that dirt, which you cannot see, accumulating on your car and destroying its beauty. Here are some easy steps to help you keep your car in great condition.
In most cases, people clean their cars with washing up liquid or detergent. This is one of the biggest mistakes they make. Although these products remove the dirt, they also strip the wax off, leaving the paint vulnerable to rusting. Utilize some car shampoo and clean with a soft cleaning mitt. To remove stubborn dirt on soap, instead of using buckets of water, use a pressure washer. Make sure you clean your wheels as well, since a lot of dirt gets into them as well.
As soon as you are satisfied with the car’s cleanliness, wipe it down with a chamois cloth or something similar so that you don’t leave any water marks behind.
Waxing and polishing are quite different. Despite being optional, this step can remove lighter scratches from the car’s surface. You can apply a little polish to a pad and rub it all over the car until it’s scratch-free.
Waxing is an essential part of car cleaning. The wax prevents the car from fading and protects it from UV rays. It also keeps bird droppings off the paint. Use a foam wax applicator to apply a small amount of wax in circular motions. Among the many types of wax, there is one that provides a white shine finish and another that provides a glossy finish. Choose either or depending on your car’s paint color.
Spray a little glass cleaner on your car windows and rub it in. After you’ve washed them with soap and wiped out the excess moisture. Don’t forget to clean the top of the glass too.
You can now use WD-40® Multi-Use to protect the metal parts of your car from rust. Watch out for drips and have a rag handy as you spray on the areas you want to protect. It is best to check with the manufacturer first before you spray it on something, and never spray it on your tyres as you will lose traction.
Bonus Tip:
To remove those annoying stickers stuck on your windscreen, simply apply some WD-40 and let it take care of the job. With the lubricant, the sticker will be loose and can be easily removed with a plastic putty knife.
